Who this is for
For the NP who is ready to go beyond the functional medicine foundation
These courses assume you understand functional medicine principles and are ready to apply advanced clinical strategies — in laboratory science, gastrointestinal health, and chronic disease management — to take your practice to the next level.
Functional medicine practitioners expanding diagnostics
The Advanced Lab course gives you a comprehensive framework for ordering, interpreting, and acting on specialty functional labs — organic acids, DUTCH, microbiome testing, mycotoxins, heavy metals — that most providers have never used.
NPs tackling treatment-resistant GI cases
The gut health course covers the functional evaluation and treatment of dysbiosis, leaky gut, SIBO, yeast overgrowth, H. pylori, parasitic infection, IBD, and celiac disease — conditions that conventional medicine frequently fails to resolve.
Primary care NPs addressing chronic disease differently
The cardiometabolic course gives any NP practical tools to manage diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and metabolic syndrome through root-cause interventions — nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle, and functional testing — rather than medication escalation.
HRT, weight loss, and functional practice owners
Advanced lab interpretation directly supports HRT, weight loss, and integrative service lines. Lab findings inform personalized protocols for every patient type — making these courses especially valuable for cash-based functional practices.
What's included
Advanced clinical tools across three high-demand specialties
This package gives you the depth to differentiate your practice — specialty diagnostics that most providers can't interpret, gut protocols that conventional medicine misses, and a systems-level approach to the chronic diseases filling your schedule every day.
🧪30+ advanced lab panels decoded
Organic acids, DUTCH, microbiome, stool testing, mycotoxins, heavy metals, food sensitivity, environmental toxins, mitochondrial markers, neurotransmitter metabolites, and more.
🦠Gut as the root cause
A functional framework for evaluating the GI system as a root cause driver of immune, hormonal, neurological, and metabolic dysfunction — with treatment protocols for each pathway.
🫀Cardiometabolic root-cause medicine
Functional strategies for diabetes, hypertension, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and CAD — covering insulin resistance, inflammation, mitochondrial health, nutrient deficiency, and targeted supplementation.
💰Revenue-building service lines
Advanced lab services can be marked up 4x over cost in a cash practice. Each course covers practice integration and how to source supplements, testing kits, and compounding pharmacy resources.
📋Clinical tools & case studies
GI assessment and treatment algorithm, label reading guide, supplement absorption handout, case finalization walkthroughs, and patient case studies across all three courses.
🎧Audio lectures included
Downloadable and streaming audio for all three courses — absorb advanced clinical content on commutes, during workouts, or anywhere you have time to listen.
The three courses
Advanced diagnostics, advanced gut health, advanced chronic disease
Each course stands alone as a complete advanced education in its specialty. Together they equip you to evaluate the whole patient — at the cellular, microbiome, and systemic level — in a way few NPs nationwide can.

Course 2: The Functional Medicine Advanced Gut Health Course
$499 * 5 CE * 1 Rx
Keri Douglas, FNP & Justin Allan, MSN FNP
A focused, hyper-clinical course on the gut as the foundation of systemic health — taught by a functional medicine practitioner and schools director. The gut governs immune function, hormonal balance, neurological health, and metabolic regulation. This course teaches you to evaluate and treat the GI conditions that drive dysfunction across every body system — conditions that conventional approaches frequently fail to resolve and that patients are increasingly seeking functional care for. Built around a 169-slide presentation with three hours of video content.
Topics covered
- GI tract physiology & the 4Rs of gut restoration
- Pancreatic enzyme deficiency & insufficiency
- Bile acids, digestive enzyme function & gallbladder health
- The gut-brain connection & gut-thyroid axis
- The microbiome: science, diversity & dysbiosis
- SIBO: diagnosis, treatment & eradication protocols

Frequently asked questions
Common questions
Do I need the Foundational Functional Medicine Course first?
We strongly recommend it. These are advanced courses that assume a working understanding of functional medicine principles — the 4 Rs, root-cause thinking, functional lab interpretation basics, and gut-body interconnections. If you're new to functional medicine, start with the Foundational Course or the Complete Functional Medicine Package first.
Do I need a special certification to order or interpret these labs?
No. Advanced functional lab testing falls within the scope of practice for any licensed NP. The Advanced Lab course teaches you how to order, interpret, and act on results without additional certification requirements.
Are the advanced labs FDA approved?
Some are, some aren't. Many specialty functional labs are not FDA-approved for a given indication but are widely used in functional and integrative practice. For cash-pay practices, FDA approval is generally not a clinical concern — the course addresses this in the practice integration section.
Can I integrate these courses into any practice type?
Yes. The lab course applies to HRT, weight loss, mental health, primary care, and every functional practice type. The gut and chronic disease courses are similarly broadly applicable — any patient population dealing with chronic conditions, GI symptoms, or metabolic dysfunction benefits from these approaches.
How does the Functional Medicine Certification differ from these courses?
The courses in this package are CE-credit advanced education. The Functional Medicine Certification is a formal credentialing program — accredited by ANCC and IACET certified through NetCE — that includes 95 CE hours (24 Rx), monthly live group sessions, comprehensive case studies, and bonus NatMed content. It is the next step for NPs who want formal credentials after completing foundational and advanced coursework.
How long do I have access?
Lifetime access. All courses are pre-recorded and available indefinitely — return to any section as your practice evolves, as you encounter complex cases, or whenever you need to reference protocols.
Are the CE hours accepted by my certifying body?
Yes. The Elite Nurse Practitioner is ANCC accredited. All 30 CE hours (including 4 pharmacology hours) apply to ANCC, AANP, and all Boards of Nursing recertification requirements. Certificates can be submitted to malpractice carriers for reimbursement and written off as a business tax deduction.
