Patients who are treatment resistant, who have difficult presentations, and who have advanced disease should be referred to your PMHNP colleagues.

This course is designed to help enlighten non-psych NPs on how to assess and treat common conditions, not take over the job of a PMHNP!

Do I need to have a physician collaborator?

Only if your state requires this! If you are in a restricted state, you can actually start a telepsych practice and see patients in full practice authority states which means you DON'T NEED a collaborator! The only thing you need is a license in that state!

Does this course cover any practice creation topics?

No, it does not. The companion course to this one will cover the business and practice creation components of starting a psychiatric practice.

Does this course cover billing?

For the non-psych nurse practitioner, yes it does. For non-psych nurse practitioners seeing patients with basic complaints of anxiety and depression, you will need to use standard E&M codes. The psych codes are reserved for PMHNPs who credential for mental health services. That type of coding is covered in The How to Start a Psychiatric Clinic Course!

Will this offer CME?
