About the Course
Created in collaboration with multiple functional medicine NPs, the Elite Nurse Practitioner is proud to announce the Foundational Functional Medicine Course: our official guide to starting and operating your own functional medicine practice. This course is designed for the nurse practitioner who wants to learn the clinical and business concepts of functional medicine. This type of practice is straightforward, inexpensive to start, and can generate significant revenue for astute medical entrepreneurs. Integrating these services into an established practice is even easier and our course will show you how to do it!
Functional medicine is a patient-centered, biologically informed approach to chronic disease management. Instead of offering temporary solutions to persistent symptoms, functional medicine addresses the root causes of a variety of conditions to improve patient well-being. Functional practitioners follow holistic approaches when developing care protocols, enabling patients to make lifestyle changes that will bring their body back into balance.
Functional medicine has grown rapidly over the past five years as patients become more aware of alternatives to the traditional healthcare model. Elite Nurse Practitioner highly recommends all NPs follow the functional movement and evolve their clinical toolkit in tandem with these cultural shifts. A functional model is conducive to both cash and insurance-based practices, and allows NPs to engage deeply with patients and dramatically improve their quality of life. This is the only functional medicine curriculum on the market specifically tailored to NPs, teaching both foundational clinical theory and the financial components of building and maintaining a thriving clinic.
You will learn:
- What functional medicine is and how it can be applied in clinical settings
- The legalities, regulations, and liabilities surrounding functional medicine
- The clinical best practices of functional medicine
- How functional medicine differs from the conventional medical model
- Lab testing and interpretation during functional medicine-based workups
- How to integrate the 4 “Rs” of functional medicine into practice (remove, replace, re-inoculate, and repair)
- Clinical concepts of gut health and the microbiome and how it affects body systems
- The science of immunity and inflammation through a functional lens
- The role of male and female sex hormones from a functional medicine standpoint
- Clinical concepts of cardiometabolic health
- How environmental toxins can negatively affect health outcomes
- Facts about HPA axis dysregulation and how it relates to human well-being
- Integrative mental health philosophy
- How trauma and stress affect the mind-body connection
- A variety of actionable treatment options and recommendations to help your patient become healthier and more balanced
- How to create a functional medicine practice from scratch
- How to market functional medicine-based services
- Which suppliers, lab companies and pharmacies to utilize
The Foundational Functional Medicine course features 20 hours of video and audio content where a group of NP experts review a 722-slide presentation. Audio recordings are also available for streaming to learn on the go. This course will include all the supplemental documentation you need to provide functional services in your practice. Participants will receive consent and intake forms, HIPAA/privacy policies, practice policies, a superbill template, and other practice management forms. Purchase also includes a bonus functional medicine protocol cheat sheet, which guides you through the process of evaluating and treating five common conditions through a functional lens.
If you’d like to build an in-demand, high revenue, low expense, and low liability business, consider practicing functional medicine. You can help patients circumvent the frustrating aspects of the healthcare industrial complex, curing illness rather than providing temporary solutions. The only thing you need is the courage and ambition to get started!

Morgan H: I have taken about 7 courses and I love every single one of them ! I have learned so much that I didn’t even learn in NP school! Thank you for honest teaching and giving everything needed to open our business, and encouraging us to step to freedom.
Makenzie L: Justin is a phenomenal mentor! He is truly paving the way for NPs across the US. Without the Elite NP group I never would’ve felt confident enough to even remotely consider branching out on my own. Looking back over a year ago to where I am now it’s just astounding. I’m so thankful I stumbled across this page! Thank you Justin and all the other NPs for the ongoing support.
Angie B: I love Elite NP info and courses, but in addition, it has been really easy to communicate with Justin for any questions, concerns, etc. Since learning about Elite NP and engaging in the Facebook group, I have connected with so many other NPs with similar goals and the support has been incredible.

Hi, I'm Justin Allan MSN FNP
I am the owner and author of The Elite Nurse Practitioner, one of the hottest blogs for nurse practitioners who want to break free from the shackles of modern healthcare.
I have been practicing as an NP for 7 years. I have worked all over the country and in many different settings. I became sick of working for others and not earning what I knew what was possible and fair. So, I decided to venture out on my own.
I now own multiple successful side practices and businesses as an NP. My goal is to share the knowledge I have learned and developed to my fellow NP colleagues so you can reach a level of success that very few NPs will ever achieve. It is possible to build profitable practices and businesses as a nurse practitioner! Do not let anyone else tell you otherwise!
