The Foundational Functional Medicine course features 20 hours of video and audio content where a group of NP experts review a 722-slide presentation. We go over each step to get started on the right foot from a business standpoint. We cover everything: service pricing, LLC formation, marketing, and everything in between! ! 

I already own a practice. Will this course teach me how to utilize functional medicine as an add-on service?  

You will walk away from this course as a more knowledgeable and competent provider. Functional medicine is always evolving, and your education should as well. 

 How long does it take to start a functional medicine practice? 

If you are starting a cash-based practice, you can have a practice up and running within 4 to 6 weeks. If you are going to accept insurance, the credentialing process will take 3 to6 months. So, it is best to get started immediately if you plan to take insurance. 

Do I need to have a special degree or certification to start my own functional medicine practice? 

Outside of your nurse practitioner degree, you do not need any additional licensure to practice functional medicine. However, it can be helpful to complete continuing education before practicing any new service. Malpractice carriers may also require proof of CE to remain insured. That’s why this course is the best place to start!   

 Will this course cover marketing? 

Yes! We will cover various marketing topics and techniques to help get patients through the door and increase your practice’s volume. 

Do I need a physician collaborator to practice functional medicine?  

If you live in a restricted state, you will need to employ a physician collaborator to practice functional medicine. If you live in a free-practice state, this is not required. If you are in a restricted state and would prefer not to hire a physician collaborator, it is possible to operate via telemedicine and register your business in a free practice state.  

What does the Comprehensive Functional Medicine Course bundle include? 

 This functional medicine course covers core concepts of functional medicine, but does not delve especially deeply into any body system. For those who want to apply functional medicine principles to specific clinical concentrations, it may be worth it to take one of our specialty functional medicine classes. This cost-effective bundle allows you to receive both an overview of functional philosophy and get further information on specific niches.  

Will this course offer CME? 

 Yes! This course offers 26 CE hours, with 7 of those hours counting as pharmacology hours. The Elite Nurse Practitioner is credentialed as a CEU provider through the ANCC. CEU awarded through The Elite Nurse Practitioner applies to ANCC, AANP, and all boards of nursing. 

 Will this course provide a certificate of completion? 

A certificate is issued at the end of the course that will show your earned CEU hours and verify your completion of this course. You can also submit this course certificate to your malpractice carrier and write off enrollment costs on your taxes.
